Abstract: An interactive key to the 302 extant Formicid genera of the world is presented. Summary data on nomenclature, taxonomy, species diversity and distribution of each genus will be added over time. Photograps of living ant specimens and montage images of museum specimens are included as they become available. Character states are derived from Synopsis of the Formicidae (Bolton 2003) and Identification Guide to the Ant Genera of the World (Bolton 1994).
